The final months of the war find the 91st Bomb Group and the rest of the Eighth Air Force flying more missions in support of the Allied drive into the heart of Hitler’s Europe. On the way to bomb V-2 launch facilities in Nordhausen, Germany, the crew of Full House encounter strange “foo fighters,” unidentifiable globes of light that might be a new Axis weapon, or something not of this world. Even though the Allies have air superiority over the continent, the missions aren’t any easier, but seem to be getting worse for Jack Harrington and his crew. During the course of the war’s final months, several crewmen have close calls, one finding himself immersed in the freezing waters of the North Sea, and another involved in a deadly airplane crash that claims the lives of three people. Full House finds that the last mission is the worst, having to make not one or two passes as the target, but three, something they’ve never had to do before, which could be nothing short of suicide for the entire 91st. Some crewmen will not survive until the war in Europe finally ends in May 1945. Who will live, and who will make the ultimate sacrifice? What will the future hold for those who are lucky enough to see the end of the deadly conflict?
